Fun on a Thursday night

Last night we went bowling at Stigbergstorget with our Spanish-Swedish friends. I did one strike and some spares. It was much fun. We had dinner at Taj Mahal (Första Långgatan 24-26). Very good indian food for a very reasonable price.

Furniture to the Castle

Last Sunday we went to IKEA to look at furniture for our new apartment. We want to buy a sofa-bed to the living room since we want family and friends to visit us. After a lot of looking, sitting, laying and reading we fell for "Månstad":
The bed will be the matress base "Storfors"+ a matress pad "Sultan Timan" and of course with wooden legs. (sorry there are no link to Storfors)

Yippieeeeee!!!

Today we've signed a contract for 49m2. It's a quite centric apartment close to the train station. We get the keys in the beginning of March but will not be moving in until April the 1st. We have to paint the whole apartment, it hasn't been repainted in 15 years (!!!!!). This is the drawing:

Reading right now: Långt borta från Nifelheim

About "not being accepted" both as a child and adult. I read it on the way to work and home again. I tell you more when I finish it.

Svinalängorna

" Svinalängorna" by Susanna Aloski. A story about Leena and her Finnish family in Sweden in the 60's. In the beginning I laughed quite a lot but after the half book it turned into a very black story. Unfortunately many children are suffering the same destiny as Leena. Her parents are alcholics and Leena and her brothers live under extreme circumstances. A strong book that I can highly recommend.

Searching for apartments

This is what is happening in my life right now: searching for an apartment, searching for an apartment, and searching for an apartment. The last week we have seen 3. The first one was fine but the area was out of the question (I would not dare to walk alone in the dark), the second one was very centric but the apartment was horrible: 49 dark m2. The last one was not even an apartment yet however if they manage to reconstruct the house (divide it in two apartments) it would be great, just what we are looking for. They said they will get back to us today with news. AFter a month of searching actively we have 3 options and none is 100%. With my usual bad luck you'll see that in the end we will end up without any of these options.

Film festival

Today we've been to Aftonstjärnan movie theater. It is over 100 years old. It is a lovely atmosphere and there is also a cafeteria to buy cheap coffee and cake. We saw a pretty bad Swedish movie called "Allt om min buske" ("All about my bush"). It is a comedy about gardening and sexual frustration (hmm weird mix). It was sometimes funny but I would not recommend it.

However I saw a much better movie yesterday: "Svarta nejlikan" (The Black Pimpernell) starring Mikael Nyqvist. A really good movie about Harald Edelstam, the Swedish ambassador who saved thousands of lifes in Chile, 1973.
